Visit to Seattle

We visited Seattle this fall. I hadn't been since high school, so it was interesting to see how much the city has changed. I think we road every mode of public transportation (yes, we are nerds); streetcar, passenger heavy rail (Amtrak), light rail, bus, ferry, and monorail.

We also ate a lot and went to a cute yarn store on Bainbridge Island (hence the ferry ride).

:: we stayed at the Moore hotel, which is a great value and in a good location. They have an in-house cafe (and TV fireplace above), plus a music venue (where I saw a lot of shows as a teenager) ::

:: the ferry ride and the bikes waiting to get off the ferry ::
:: Churchmouse Yarns, on Bainbridge Island. I really wanted this cup, but it was too expensive ("Happiness is a cup of tea and a new magazine" - so true)
:: silly, me and some planters in downspouts ::

:: the real reason for the trip was the 2011 SLICE conference, it was such an inspiring few days of brainstorming and networking, plus some excellent note taking skills (sigh) ::
