There was a lot of formal art incorporated into buildings.Mostly tiled mosaics like the ones above and below. They were incredibly complex and beautiful.

There was also a large number of graffiti on the metal doors that shops closed at the end of the day. Most of the time they were hidden, but if a store had gone out of business or just closed early, they were up. Most were incredibly intricate and it seemed like it wasn't discouraged. I actually liked most of them. They were creative and really added some character to the streets.



This last one was a residential door in the old Jewish quarter. At first we were just looking at the graffiti, but then noticed the door knockers. They are incredibly racist and I couldn't believe that they were still left up there. Maybe that was why the door was tagged, since we didn't see many other personal doors that were marked.
