I read a great post by Hillary at Wee Wonderfuls were her cute doll Susannah got a new book, The Adventures of Milly Molly Mandy. It is a really cute book and I definitely recommend it. 
The stories were written in the late 1920s, the illustrations are great and remind me a lot of E.H. Shepard the illustrator for Wind in the Willows and Winnie the Pooh (also, hooray for Now We Are Six).
